West Oxford Beer Festival

West Oxford Community Centre
Saturday, June 17 2017, 7pm

UPDATE: SAT 17 JUNE: There will be a limited number of tickets available on the door (cost five pounds). If you want to pre-order tickets, send us a message on our Facebook page and we will try to respond. But today is a busy day, so please be patient!

Please see below for the all-important beer list.

The Great Get Together

Jo Cox MP lived her life spreading her belief that "we have more in common than that which divides us".

In that spirit, her family and friends are inviting people across the country to mark the anniversary of her death by organising or attending celebrations in their community on 17-18 June.

To learn more about The Great Get Together, go to www.greatgettogether.org

The events being held in West Oxford as part of the Great Get Together include our Big Picnic (see below) and the West Oxford Beer Festival itself.

Big Picnic

In addition to the main event, WOBFest will also have a stall at the West Oxford "Big Picnic".

This will be held in Botley Park, next door to the West Oxford Community Centre, between 4pm and 7pm on Saturday 17 June, so you can go straight from one event to the other.

For more information, please go to our Big Picnic page.

Tickets for WOBFest

Tickets for the West Oxford Beer Festival cost five pounds, and gain you entry, plus a commemorative pint glass, which will be yours to keep. We may have a small number of tickets on the door, but we strongly recommend you get them in advance (see top of page!)

Drinks and food are then "pay-as-you-go".

Proceeds

Although an independent event, WOBFest donates procceeds to local causes. This year we intend to give any funds raised to The Gatehouse, which exists to provide a calm, safe refuge for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed.

Food and drink

There will be catering on the night from the Tumbling Bay Cafe.

In addition to our beers, we will also have a cider, a lager, a white wine and a red wine, for any non-beer drinkers you may bring along..

Beer

Below is the provisional beer list for this year's WOBFest.

Normaly we try to get last year's "Best in Fest" back. Last year the winner was West Berkshire Brewery's "Screaming Eagle".

As this was a 2016 seasonal special, we can't offer it this year. Instead we have invited back the second-placed beer: Chiltern Brewery's "Earl Grey IPA".

Purists may wish to note that, because of limitations with setup time and the small size of WOBFest, the beer is bought in bright in Polypins. But it is still very tasty!

Guest Beer

At WOBFest we are keen to celebrate local breweries: all the ales listed above come from within 30 miles of Oxford.

However, in honour of the great pub tradition, we also have a "guest beer" from outside the locality.

This year WOBFest is part of "The Great Get Together", a series of nationwide events inspired by the Jo Cox Foundation, celebrating "we have more in common than that which divides us".

A number of brewers have combined forces to create a "Great Get Together Pale Ale", and we are very lucky to have secured a supply of this limited edition bottled ale as our "guest beer" for 2017.

We hope you make our guest feel part of the community.
